things that are awesome

I have a folder on my desktop entitled "things that are awesome" - so now I introduce a few of my treasures.

This is a window display for Helmut Lang that I think may have been in London, but I'm not positive. The whole display features more mannequins posed as if dodging or being hit by bullets. The blood spatters are particularly inspired, I think.

This is a table that I feel like nearly everyone I've shown it to has seen, so I guess it's ok that I can't remember where it comes from. Illusion of weight support is such a cool thing, our brain totally tricks us into seeing certain things.

AHA. This is a piece by John Isaac entitled "You Said You Would Always Be There (Unicorn’s Head), 2006". I love it, perhaps because I think it speaks to a part of me that repeats this truth in my head in unpleasant moments. And I think it's something people think more often that we know, perhaps because we don't want to admit to being left, the one worth leaving. But Isaacs really kind of justifies those feelings - my feelings - by illustrating the downfall of a beautiful work of fiction that never existed in the first place. But you think it does, you SO think it does.

And this is one of those things I want; I love oversize and undersized objects. I don't remember where I got this image, but it strikes me as having a very surrealist quality, and I think it's excellent.
