so, what are property laws when you're sixteen?

Ok let me just say that my computer just made a noise that I don't understand at all. I typed my title and then this sound occurred and I essentially performed the laptop-screen version of looking around for the source. You know, the kind that people show in cartoons by a bunch of semicircle lines around the head. I think Charlie Brown does this every time he is about to kick the football Lucy is always stealing away from under him. What a mean lucy! WHAT A MEAN!

Ok sorry I got sidetracked. Strange noises and shiny things have that effect on me sometimes. Well, and pink things and the sound of diet coke being opened and the scent of weakness on the wind. But anyway. Nathan and I had a long (for nathan, anyway) talk last night about how he was going to handle breaking things off with this girlfriend that he's had for almost a year now, and he came home just now and I asked him how it went and got the much more characteristic "fine" before he disappeared into the bathroom. Lori thinks he seems sad (I informed her of this debacle in the car but swore her to absolute secrecy, which I feel almost ok about doing because 1) she usually knows these things somehow anyway and 2) I hope she'll be a little easier on Nathan today if she understands his surliness) but I don't know, last night he alleged he would not be super-upset about things because he's ready to end it. But I suspect he may feel it a little more now that it's actually happened.

I know it has happened because I have checked his facebook, which tells me that he has gone from being in a relationship to being single, and that his profile picture is no longer the two of them together. Niki's profile still says that she's in a relationship, so either she's not letting go as quickly as Nathie is, or she hasn't been home yet. She did update her status an hour ago, and they had a half day today, so logically I think she has had the option to change it and has not.

BUT get this. Nathan told me yesterday that part of his issue is that she cheated on him this summer WITH THREE DIFFERENT guys - AND are you ready for this? - IN THE SAME NIGHT. And she has never told him who they are. And no one knows about her indiscretions - at least, they didn't, as of yesterday - except him and like his bros. So I don't know if/how this will change as things develop, but it will be interesting to see. Her new facebook status is "If you're gonna be bad be realll bad", so all in all I don't think I have much respect for her sense of public propriety/image consciousness, nor do I think she's showing him the consideration I hope he showed her. HMM. Well, I guess we'll hear more about this later.

What I really want to know is, does this mean I can have the cute raybans she left at my house like three weeks ago? They've been sitting on the buffet in my living room taunting me for a while now...what are the property laws when you're a sixteen year old going through a breakup with excellent sunglasses? finders keepers? winners, losers? she probably doesn't even want them, right? all the memories etc. give us themmmmm
